The Good Boys
Hi, I'm Martial Arts Master Bill FitzPatrick
Some years ago, a professor at John Hopkins University gave his students a research project
Go to the ghetto - and investigate the lives of 200 teenage boys
And based on what the students found
They were to predict the boys' futures
Well Given the environment there were growing up in The students predicted that 90% of the boys would end up in JAIL.
So what did REALLY happen?
25 years later, another group of students checked on those predictions.
They found that only four of the 200 had ever been sent to jail.
Why was it that these men, who had lived in a breeding ground of crime, Why did they have such a surprisingly good record for staying out of trouble?
Digging a little deeper, this second group of students found
That 75 percent of those 200 boys HAD HAD the same teacher, Mrs. Perkins.
The students found Mrs. Perkins living in a nursing home. They visited her and asked her to speculate on
her SPECTACTULAR success record, she said, "Well, GEE, I really don't know.
I always thought they were GOOD boys and - then stopping for a moment to reminisce
she said almost to herself - You know, I loved teaching
and I JUST LOVED and BELIEVED in ALL of my students."
