How to conquer obstacles
You are mindful. You are conscious. You are aware. You are honest.
The strongest part of you is your mind.
Mindfully you realize that often you face two opposing life choices. One is easy. One is hard.
To be successful, you cannot always choose “easy.”
The successful face and overcome obstacles.
Go to the gym, or roll over in bed.
Study for the exam this afternoon, or study tomorrow.
Ask for the raise today, or wait until next week.
Call the customer with the complaint, or ignore the customer with the complaint.
Leave work early to go to your kid’s soccer game, or never do that.
Take a second job to raise a down payment to buy an investment property, or laugh at that idea.
Fire your do-nothing cousin, or keep paying him.
Make one more sales call before going home, or don’t.
Take a risk and make an offer, or presume that all offers will be rejected.
So mindfully, honestly, you realize that your life is made up of the choices you make.
Easy is the excuse, the rationalization, the procrastination, the resentment, the avoidance, the entitlement and the feeling sorry for yourself.
Everyone faces obstacles.
Overcoming the obstacle is the path.
The obstacle will often be difficult, inconvenient, risky, a pain, boring and not fun.
The obstacle is the path. Face it mindfully.
Eat the donut. Don’t eat the donut.
Confront your teen. Don’t confront your teen.
Forgive. Don’t forgive.
In one second, you face the obstacle and you choose.
The obstacle is the path. Face it mindfully
Do you sigh and sit down, reach for your cellphone and call a sympathetic ear to justify your inaction?
Or do you scream to yourself, “Screw this!” and find some way to get over the wall?
Be mindful and choose success.
